Controls Engineer

Own the electrical design on machines that run production lines. You will design complete control systems — schematics, panel layouts, bills of material and hardware documentation — for medium to large-scale industrial automation, and stay involved through commissioning and field support.

What you will be doing

  • Design electrical control systems including schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and bills of material using AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Specify and configure PLCs, drives, motion systems and control hardware.
  • Support custom machine development in collaboration with mechanical engineering.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues both in manufacturing and in field support.
  • Ensure compliance with UL508A and NEC standards.
  • Identify design improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Support commissioning, documentation, training and standardization efforts.
  • Maintain controls documentation, ECRs and production checklists.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with company policies.

What you need

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of controls engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical or similar CAD tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, drives, servos, motion control, safety systems and HMIs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to multitask in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, roughly 10-15%.
