Field Service Technician

Field Service Technicians are vital in providing comprehensive on-site support to our customers across North America. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of technical assistance, including:

  • Technical, electrical, and programming support
  • Mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic support

Technicians not only offer field service but also play a significant role in the machine build process. With travel requirements ranging from 60% to 70%, candidates must exhibit proficiency and versatility in various technical skills and personal attributes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing on-site technical, electrical, programming, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic support.
  • Involvement in the machine build process from concept to completion.
  • Efficiently working with minimal supervision, showcasing strong communication skills and a team player attitude.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in using measuring devices, multi-meters, laser levels, hand tools, and multi-meters.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-year technology or electronics degree.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience with automated machinery.
  • Proficient in working with all levels of electrical voltage, including single and three-phase.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical problems.
  • Skilled in navigating PLC and servo motor drive control software.
  • Direct work experience with electrical, controls, manufacturing, programming, mechanical, and application engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming.
  • Ability to comprehend and demonstrate mechanical assembly and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency in manual assembly of basic machine components or subassemblies.
  • Capability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Understanding of customer-supplied fabrication drawings to ensure compatibility with JMC equipment.
  • Effective communication in describing issues or improvements through written text, mechanical, and electrical drawings, diagrams, and machine schematics.
  • Must possess a valid passport or be eligible to obtain one.

Additional Requirements:

  • Siemens CNC/PLC programming experience highly regarded.
  • Skilled in wiring machine components.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing machine issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and programming domains.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair Servo motion control systems and VFD.
  • Competence in training operators and maintenance personnel on machine operations, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Proficiency in performing complete on-site customer machine installation and startup.
  • Willingness to occasionally undertake duties outside the service department as needed.
